According to Mark Jacobs of Two Eagles Security, a quarrel ensued between neighbours, which led to a man attempting to attack an elderly woman.

It is believed the domestic worker shoved the woman out of the way in an attempt to protect her. The man then slit the domestic workers’ throat, before fleeing.

“I heard her say, ‘Gogo, go’ and afterwards ran into my bedroom. That’s when I saw her bleeding from the neck,” said the emotional woman.

The employer described Anna as a trustworthy and loyal person.

“She was my hero. She saved my life,” she sobbed.

Anna, a mother of three, worked for the family for several years.

“Her children grew up with my children. She would cook and feed them together,” said the distraught woman.

Paramedics on scene reported the domestic worker had bled out, and there were no signs of life upon their arrival.

“I tried to stop the bleeding with a towel, but Anna was already bleeding from the mouth,” said the woman’s daughter.

It is speculated the knife wound was about 15cm long and 6cm deep. Police were on scene to gather information, and the Dog Unit was dispatched to pursue the suspect.

Police investigations are currently ongoing.

“We are still looking for the suspect,” said Inspector Mahabeer of Newcastle police.

Anna turned 45-years-old in March. She has left behind three sons, the youngest of whom is just 7-years-old.

The Newcastle Advertiser extends its condolences to the family and friends of the deceased.
