
Police have identified the man who died in a hail of bullets on Tuesday in the Embizeni area of Ezakheni.
27-year-old Delani Siphesihle Mabizela was brutally gunned down, execution style, while a second victim is lucky to be alive.
The shooting took place at about midday on Tuesday in Ezakheni near the Water Works. It is alleged that two men were ambushed while travelling in a vehicle. Their attackers were allegedly hiding in the bush.
One occupant of the vehicle was shot repeatedly in the upper body and sustained fatal injuries, while the other was shot in the thigh and survived the attack.
At least 26 empty cartridges were scattered around the crime scene, as the men lay in pools of their own blood.
Ezakheni police have opened cases of murder and attempted murder.
The deceased is believed to be a member of the Gamede clan that is involved in an ongoing taxi war with the Mabaso clan.
The taxi war has claimed close to 200 people’s lives.
