Blurock Quarry hands over community project on Mandela Day

Blurock Quarry have supplied and installed a state of the art computer centre at the Tatazela High school

Tatazela high school is located on the outskirts of Estcourt. The school was established in 1999. The late Dr Nelson Mandela through SAB donated the school after consultations with the iNkosi of the AmaHlubi Tribe.

The current principal is Mr SV Hlatshwayo. The school has 570 pupils from grade 8 to grade 12. The school has over the past years produced pupils that have excelled in the medical field, management fields and sciences fields.

Blurock Quarry have supplied and installed a state of the art computer centre at the Tatazela High school in Draycott. The classroom has been refurbished to cater for a modern computer centre. The centre will be accessible to all school children and the community.

The total investment in the project from Blurock Quarry is in the region of R450 000. In the past the children used to walk 2km to the nearby computer centre and this exposed them to the risk of crime.

With the computer centre within the school premises learning and teaching will be improved as well as the safety of the children. There are qualified teachers at the school to ensure the pupils received the most out of the computer centre.

Blurock also sponsored the school with a netball and soccer kit. This is an important investment by Blurock Quarry to rural communities.
Projects of this nature are part of our community investment. We have completed similar projects in and around the Estcourt area. This forms part of our mining rights with the Department of Mineral Resources.

A special thank you goes out to SnS Home improvement for the structural refurbishments, Digit-IT for the Installation and setup of the computers, Zamokuhle Zwane from Ntshosho and Associates for project identification, Kajal Singh for the Project Management, Jeremy Hunter-Smith for project approval and supervision and the Directors of Blurock Quarry for the financial investment and finally a big thank you to the school principal, Mr Hlatshwayso for the great concern, enthusiasm and dedication towards the project, the community and the learners.
