MEC for Social Development says ‘sex pest teacher’ has deeply disturbed her
'Our schools are not hunting grounds for predators'

The ‘sex video’ teacher from Ekucabangeni High School, Nquthu, is apparently on the run after the MEC for Education, Mthandeni Dlungwane, opened a charge against him at the Nquthu police station.
The MEC visited the school after a graphic video surfaced of the teacher having sex with a school girl. The video was taken by the teacher. Five more learners from the school have since come forward and accused the teacher, whose name is known to the Courier, of sexually assaulting him.
The video started doing the round on social media after the teacher apparently asked school boys to wash his car.
While doing so, they found a memory card in his car which they took, hoping to download music onto the card.
However, they instead found several sex videos of the teacher and various school girls. At least two of the videos were spread around on social media.
The card is apparently in the possession of the police.
The sex incidents, where the school girls apparently show no sign of resisting his advances, took place in a cottage on the school premises. The cottage was used by the teacher as his sleeping quarters.
“As parents, we send our children to school to get an education not to be violated by predators posing as teachers.”
The cottage was subsequently set alight by angry students after the videos went viral. The teacher, whose home is in Ulundi, has since fled the area.
Meanwhile, MEC for Social Development, Weziwe Thusi, says she is ‘deeply disturbed by the incident;.
MEC Thusi said: “I want to start by condemning the teacher’s unforgivable actions which have brought the teaching profession into disrepute. As parents, we send our children to school to get an education not to be violated by predators posing as teachers.”
She added: “I must thank the teacher for his lapse in judgment which unwittingly helped put a stop to his rampage. I honestly believe that if he had not taken that video, we would never have known about what he was doing and he would still be preying on these learners.”
The MEC has commended his Education counterpart, Mthandeni Dlungwane, for his decisiveness following the incident. MEC Dlungwane has suspended the teacher and opened a criminal case against him.
“MEC Dlungwane’s actions show that our schools are not hunting grounds for predators. We hope his investigation will look into other schools where this predator has worked to see if he did not leave any victims there. We look forward to the teacher’s arrest and trial.”
