Update: Armed robbery in Bengal Road
A manhunt has been launched for the suspects
3 males forced their way into a residence in Bengal Road this morning (August 31).
The men, wearing balaclavas, entered the yard as the homeowners were driving into their property. As they got out of their vehicle after parking in the garage, the couple were caught off-guard. 3 men quickly approached them with a firearm and a knife.
The thugs warned them not to contact anyone. However, once inside the house, the scared wife managed to press the panic button, which alerted a security company. The men held the domestic worker at gunpoint, ransacked the house and took various items, including cash, before fleeing the scene.
Sharaj Ambulance Services responded to the scene and treated the occupants for shock.
The Ladysmith K9 Unit and other Visible Policing Units have launched a manhunt for the suspects.
Ladysmith detectives will be investigating a case of armed robbery.
The couple and the domestic worker are still coming to terms with their traumatic ordeal.
