Imperial Road Safety brings safe scholars programme to Newcastle

From its inception the Safe Scholars programme, has visited more than 960 schools, given road safety talks to 868 741 pupils and distributed 45 000 reflective sashes as part of Imperial’s commitment to road safety.

LENNOXTON – In November 2015, Imperial Road Safety launched the Safe Scholars campaign in conjunction with the South African Department of Education to create awareness around road safety for pupil pedestrians countrywide.

From its inception the Safe Scholars programme, has visited more than 960 schools, given road safety talks to 868 741 pupils and distributed 45 000 reflective sashes as part of Imperial’s commitment to road safety.

Imperial Road Safety recently brought this programme to the pupils of Lennoxton Primary School as one of the nine schools they have visited in Newcastle for the month of August.

Road safety initiatives are making a key contribution in educating younger citizens about the important of road safety behavioural skills that will carry them through their adult years.

Imperial Road Safety’s Bongie, Buckle Up Buddy, South Africa’s first road safety mascot, also joined in on the fun to teach the pupils of the schools in Newcastle about road safety in a fun and engaging manner.
