Love triangle murderers imprisoned

Betrayal, trickery, lies and ultimately murder laid the foundation for a fatal love triangle, which ended in the KwaDukuza High Court last Wednesday. With one person dead and two others sentenced for murder, this story has no happy ending.

It began in March on the 11th when 52-year-old teacher Ramond Mgcini Mabizela, a Bergville resident was lured to Wembezi by his 28-year-old girlfriend Fikelephi Ngubane.

When he arrived in Wembezi, a deadly encounter was waiting. He was kidnapped by Sizwe ‘Rasta’ Ntshusha, who some in the community believe was the third wheel in this love triangle.

The teacher was brutally murdered and his body concealed in a sinkhole in the KwaSikhonyane area in Imbabazane’s Ward six. The man’s vehicle was stolen and according to police used by the male suspect, until it was abandoned and set alight in Wembezi.Police discovered the vehicle and together with Bergville police officers began to search for the missing owner.

“The body of the deceased was recovered 13 days later by officers from the K9 Search and Rescue Unit in the sinkhole. The body was partially decomposed,” explained police spokesperson Captain Charmaine Struwig.

Police arrested the male suspect five days later and later Fikelephi Ngubane. The murder case was investigated by Constable Mkhulise from the Wembezi Detective Service.

“He successfully opposed bail and both the accused remained behind bars until they were sentenced. Sizwe Ntshusha pleaded guilty on May 27 where the Pietermaritzburg High Court sentenced him to 20 years imprisonment for murder; five years imprisonment for kidnapping; and five years imprisonment for malicious damage to property. Count two and three are to run concurrent with count one,” said the captain. 

The second accused, Fikelephi Ngubane, who was the teacher’s girlfriend, appeared in court on murder charges. She was sentenced to 20 years imprisonment for the charge.
