St Gregory’s Fun Run adds colour to the countryside

The runners started off the day's festivities by enveloping themselves in a cloud of colour by throwing coloured powder at each other

St Gregory Primary School hosted their annual fun run on Saturday, September 3 at Blue Haze Country Lodge. There were three races – 1km, 5km and 10km – as well as market stalls, games and face paint. The day was well-supported, with over 170 runners taking part.

The 10km race started off first, followed by the 5km and lastly, the 1km. The runners followed a trail through the countryside with a breath-taking view of the Wagendrift Dam.

There were various points along the routes where the runners were doused with even more colours. Each of the colourful runners received a medal for completing their race.

The 10km race was won by Mboneni Dlamini in a brilliant time of just over 38 minutes.
He was followed by Travers Pellew in second place and Chad Els in third.
Kwanele Sithole came first in the 5km race, with Daniel Schauffer in second and Khalippa Shabalala in third.
Jared Robberts took first place in the 1km race, with Amahle Dladla following shortly on his heels and his brother, Joshua Robberts finishing in third.

Well done to all the runners! St Gregory Primary School would like to thank both the runners and their supporters who attended the event. A special thank you to everybody who sponsored the day; you made the event possible!
