In a competition known as the Cinderella Matric Farewell Competition hosted by Factory Plaza, four major high schools were requested to select three of its pupils to enter the contest.

The winner stood a chance of receiving their dress, shoes, jewellery, make-up, hair-do and manicure, all sponsored by Factory Plaza for their Matric Farewell. To make the deal even sweeter, a professional photographer was included in the package to capture the magnificent moment.

The competition was held during the month of August, were each contestant was required to promote themselves on social media and the participant with the most likes, which counted as votes, would be the winner.

Cassandra’s family was in full support mode and assisted her every step of the way.

“During that month, a lot of hardwork was involved,” said Kim van der Westhuizen, Casssandra’s mother.

Out of 11 other entrants, Cassandra received 380 likes (votes) and was announced as the winner.

“I was absolutely thrilled when I won!” exclaimed Cassandra.

Cassandra’s fairy-tale farewell was a dream come true and she was transformed into a real-life Cinderella.

“I would like to thank Factory Plaza, Crystal Palace, Danielle Summerfield and all my social media friends, without them this would not have possible,” said Cassandra.

Cassandra wishes to pursue a career as a professional chef after she matriculates. She will be studying at the FET College in town.

The Newcastle Advertiser would like to congratulate Cassandra on her win and wish her everything of the best in her future endeavours.
