Victory Chapel raises funds to fight cancer

It was an educational and eye-opening event, with the ladies asking questions about cancer in its various forms

The congregation of Victory Chapel hosted a ‘Cuppa Tea for Cansa’ today (October 22) at the church to raise funds for the Cancer Association of South Africa (Cansa).

The event kicked off with Siphelelisiwe Mabaso from Cansa addressing those in attendance about cancer and how to prevent it.

“Cancer is caused 80% by an individual’s lifestyle, while the rest is environmental. Smoking and being around people who smoke increase your chances of getting cancer,” he said.

The women in the audience learned a lot and were urged to do regular check-ups to detect breast cancer.

The church also donated an undisclosed amount of money to the cancer association, with Siphelelisiwe expressing his gratitude on behalf of the organisation and saying that it would go a long way in helping to fight the disease.

After the various presentations, those who attended were treated to delicious tea and cake.

It was an educational and eye-opening event, with the ladies asking questions about cancer in its various forms.
