Family loses home to fire

A resident made the family's plight known on social media, requesting assistance. Within minutes, help was on its way.

MADADENI – The Sithole family of five were left with nothing after their home went up in flames on Sunday morning.

Their home, in Madadeni Section 1, caught alight at 3am, causing extensive damage to the roof and destroying windows and doors.

While uninjured, the family now face an uncertain future. In the midst of their turmoil, earthly angels came to their rescue.

A resident made the family’s plight known on social media, requesting assistance. Within minutes, help was on its way.

Majuba Rotary Club donated meat, canned food, mealiemeal, bread, a gas stove, a tent, cooler bag, pots and pans, kitchen utensils, as well as towels and toiletries.

“We were made aware of the family’s situation through social media. If anyone would like to contribute to the family, they can contact me on 082 560 4722,” said Daniel Couper of Majuba Rotary.

The community can also donate money, which will be used to make the house habitable.
