NEWCASTLE – Walkers, runners and cyclists made it a globetrotting experience on Saturday.
On its second year, the Aletheia Country Walk took its entrants to all corners of the earth to raise funds for pupils of the Christian college.

In the spirit of country, entrants had to get their ‘passports’ stamped at certain points.
Organiser, Marion McKay explained the event was divided into walk, run and cycle, across either five or 10 kilometres.
Pets were also welcomed.
Mrs McKay provided more insight into the event: “It’s a fund-raiser to send some of our seniors to a convention in Bloemfontein. They will compete against other Accelerated Christian Education (ACE) schools in Africa and Scandinavia.”
The convention hosts a few thousand people each year, six of whom will be from Newcastle.
The pupils will compete in a number of categories, including athletics, academics and culture, with a chance to represent their school, Newcastle and South Africa abroad.
“Last year, one of our pupils got a first prize at the convention and went to the United States.”

The lower portion of Grace Park, where the race began and ended, was transformed into a rest stop with food and drink on sale.
