Ladysmith High School (LHS) held its annual prize-giving ceremony on Thursday, October 20.
Once again, the high academic standards of the school, as well as the many achievements in sport and culture, were illustrated by the numerous awards presented on the night.
It was also a bitter-sweet occasion, as the school bids farewell to Mrs Conradie, who has taught at the school for 41 dedicated years! Her expertise, energy and love for the school and the children will be sorely missed.
The head prefects for 2017 were also announced. LHS is pleased to announce Corné Jooste as head boy and Courtney Cox as head girl, with Luyanda Mncube, Aryan Mootheeram, Priaska Goorhoo and Ntsiki Gwala as deputy head prefects. The announcements were greeted with thunderous applause and very hearty congratulations.
The Dux girl for 2016 is Grace Smythe and Dux boy Mohsin Suleman.
‘Sportsman of the Year’ is Zandré Koster and ‘Sportswoman of the Year’ Grace Smythe.
The school would like to congratulate all the recipients on their achievements. The LHS motto, “Per Adua Ad Alta”, holds true for them in that they achieved the heights of success through hard work.
