COUNCILLORS from municipalities in the Zululand District were invited to spend a day with King Goodwill Zwelithini at his Nongoma palace last weekend.

During the visit, guests were entertained with a play about the King’s life and treated to a sumptuous lunch.

DA councillor, Alta de Kock said she thoroughly enjoyed the experience and was honoured to receive a blanket, bearing the King’s emblem, as a gift.

“It was a lovely experience. The King is such a humble and wise man. During his speech he demonstrated such knowledge and insight when he spoke about food production and tackled the very real possibility that we will have a problem in the future with food security if we don’t do anything about it now,” said Mrs de Kock.

“I was also very impressed with the children who performed in the play about the King’s life. I can tell that we have some very talented, upcoming actors in the community. It was really a privilege to be invited to this function.”
