Glencoe water crisis: Residents queue for water

Resident's queue for water tankers as crisis continues

The water crisis in Glencoe continues.

Earlier,  Umzinyathi District Municipality released a statement confirming that the problem had been fixed and that water would soon be running in taps.

However, residents are still without water and are now queuing for water tankers which are servicing the affected areas.  One Church Street resident said their water came back at 2am but went off again shortly afterwards.

Amidst all the frustration and drama, there have been some rays of positivity.

One kind soul, Sakkie van der Merwe, has been supplying people with water from his borehole on Damman Street.

Acting Operations Manager at Umzinyathi has confirmed that people will have water by today. “All valves were tested and have been opened. We are just asking for a little patience and they will all have water, not at the same time, however, due to gravity feed,” said one Umzinyathi spokesperson.
