Christmas cheer makes a comeback

From books to biltong, crafts, candy and cupcakes with Christmas carols playing in the background, the market was indeed, enjoyed by all

In the light of celebrating the festive season, Estcourtonians were treated to a Christmas Market on Saturday, December 3.

Homemade and handmade goods, yummy treats as well as fun games drew both young and old to enjoy the market held at the Estcourt Methodist Church yard. On the sunny day, shoppers browsed each stall – from books to biltong, crafts, candy and cupcakes with Christmas carols playing in the background, the market was indeed, enjoyed by all.

Father Christmas (Santa Claus) also attended the Christmas Market and came bearing gifts from a fire engine that he arrived in. The market was hosted to raise funds for Shepstone Place Home for the Aged.

Here’s what Sheryl Lane, Chairperson of Shepstone Place had to say about the market: “The support and fellowship at the market this year is great. The market is such a wonderful platform to display local talent. Thank you to the community of Estcourt for supporting the home throughout the year.”

This year the market organiser, Sherlene Gericke invited local charities and non-profit organisations to help share the Christmas cheer by hosting stalls, such as the Estcourt Animal Shelter, Food for Life, Estcourt Hospice Charity Shop and more.

Sherlene would like to thank the stall holders, and everyone who assisted in making the Christmas Market a memorable, fun-filled success.
