Update: Stranded uThukela sportsmen find accommodation
"No one was left stranded, as all the participants were allocated to proper places to stay"

The uThukela District sports team was stranded and left without accommodation on Thursday (December 8) at Ugu Municipality, Port Shepstone, after uThukela District municipality failed to secure accommodation for the local stars.
The team was forced to sleep in the buses and taxis they arrived in, as the municipality failed to find accommodation for the 450 sports stars who went to Port Shepstone to participate in the SALGA Games.
Speaking on behalf of uThukela District Municipality, communications officer Jabulani Mkhonza stated that the accommodation issue for the 450 stars has been sorted out.
The team left on Wednesday, December 7, and were only allocated to proper places to stay the following day.
“I wish to inform the public that everything regarding the challenge of finding accommodation for our sports stars has since been sorted out, as of yesterday. I can also confirm that no one was left stranded, as all the participants were allocated to proper places to stay,” said Mkhonza.
He further stated that they wish to thank all those who were affected by the unfortunate circumstances for bearing with them, and also thanks his team for working tirelessly around the clock to make sure the sportsmen were allocated the proper accommodation they deserve.
“We wish them all the best during the SALGA Games,” he concluded.
