Skills project to help put food on the table

In an attempt to promote recycling, the project teaches learners how to make chairs, necklaces, wall hangings and pendants using paper and cardboard

Senzo Mkhwanazi from Newcastle is currently running a project from Mpilonhle Sanctuary in which he teaches people who run crèches and those who simply want to make a living how to make useful things out of cardboard and ordinary paper.

In an attempt to promote recycling, the project also teaches learners how to make chairs, necklaces, wall hangings and pendants using paper and cardboard.

According to Senzo, the aim of the project is to help unemployed people who have a passion for arts be able to earn a decent living. This also applies to those who run crèches, as it further educates the little ones and teaches them valuable life skills.

The project started on Monday last week and will finish tomorrow (December 14).

Senzo concluded that this skills development project will go a long way towards putting food on the table for the needy, as these are “never-ending skills that can be improved daily”.
