Hope High School matriculants make their mark

Learners from Hope High School proved their academic worth, as the school boasts a 99 per cent pass rate.

NCANDU – For many matriculants, January 9 marked the end of their school career and the dawn of a new adventure as the learners entered the adult world.

Learners from Hope High School proved their academic worth, as the school boasts a 99 per cent pass rate.

The Top 10 learners from Hope High were:

1. Siyethemba Masuku who obtained six distinctions. He received 100 per cent in Physical Science, 89 per cent in Mathematics, 90 per cent in Life Science, 94 per cent in Accounting, 85 per cent in English and 90 per cent in Life Orientation. His advice for the Class of 2017: “Start studying as early as possible and you will not regret it.”

2. Nozipho Mbatha received four distinctions: 87 per cent in Mathematics, 83 per cent in Physical Science, 89 per cent in Business Studies and 87 per cent in Accounting. Her adive for the new matriculants: “Never give up and don’t doubt yourself.”

3. Bongumusa Thango obtained four distinctions: 90 per cent in Physical Science, 82 per cent for isiZulu, 82 per cent for Business Studies, 84 per cent in Life Science. His advice for the Class of 2017: “Work hard, study hard and believe in yourselves.”

4. Thandolwethu Mkhonza received three distinctions: 85 per cent in Physical Science, 83 per cent in Life Science and 83 per cent in Accounting. His advice for the matriculants of 2017: “You need to make a lot of sacrifices, but it will be worth it.”

5. Thubelihle Mkhonza received two distinctions: 84 per cent for English and 80 per cent for isiZulu. His advice for this year’s matriculants: “Work hard and use the question papers teachers give you. Also, never undermine yourself.”

6. Mellisa Khoza obtained two distinctions: 84 per cent for Life Science and 80 per cent for Enlish.

7. Romeo Mnyandu took seventh place in the school’s Top 10 and his advice for the new matriculants: “Stay focused, be determined and do not deviate from your goals, no matter what.”

8. Nosphiwo Xaba received two distinctions: one for isiZulu with a mark of 86 per cent and another for English with a pass mark of 82 per cent. Her advice for learners entering Grade 12 this year: “Keep focused, committed and prepare in advance.”

9. Minenhle Zikalala obtained one distinction for isiZulu. His advice: “Time management is very important.”

10. Slindokuhle Dlomo received two distinctions. They were isiZulu with 82 per cent and English with 81 per cent. Her advice: “Respect your teachers, study hard and always do your homework.”
