BARRY HERTZOG – Panorama Combined School had a pass rate of 71.2 per cent. While the pass rate is 15 per cent lower than last year, the matriculants who passed did exceptionally well.
1. Mandisa Zwane obtained six distinctions: 80 per cent for English, 90 per cent for Geography, 82 per cent for Physical Science, 87 per cent for Life Science, 81 per cent for isiZulu and 82 per cent for Life Orientation. Her advice to the class of 2017: “Hard work takes you very far and you need to sacrifice a lot, as intelligence can only take you so far.”

2. Nombuliso Mbele received five distinctions: 81 per cent for Mathematics, 83 per cent for Physical Science, 87 per cent for Life Science, 87 per cent for Geography and 87 per cent Life Orientation. Her advice to matriculants: “Hard work always pays off.”
3. Fikile Mavuso obtained four distinctions: 80 per cent for English, 83 per cent for Geography, 83 per cent for Life Science and 88 per cent for Life Orientation. Fikile’s advice to the class of 2017: “Work hard. Taking extra classes helps a lot.”
4. Lindokuhle Ntshauba earned three distinctions: 82 per cent for Geography, 81 per cent for Life Science and 83 per cent for Life Orientation. His advice for the incoming Grade 12 learners: “Always work hard.”
5. Yolanda Sithole obtained two distinctions: 87 per cent for Life Science and 81 per cent for isiZulu. Her advice to Grade 12s: “You should work hard, believe in yourselves and never give up.”
6. Sinegugu Zikalala received two distinctions: 81 per cent for isiZulu and 84 per cent for Life Orientation. Her advice is: “You must work hard from the beginning of the year, so you won’t have to stress for the final exams.”
7. Sibusisiwe Twala got two distinctions: 78 per cent for Life Orientation and 76 per cent for isiZulu. Her advice: “Work hard and stay focused on your goals.”
