Wounded dog found trapped in plastic bag
SPCA was informed about a Jack Russell found in a plastic bag on Tommy Boydell Avenue in Barry Hertzog Park.

BARRY HERTZOG – As Newcastillians look forward implementing their plans for the new year, the SPCA braces itself for what it may encounter.
On Thursday, January 5, the SPCA was informed about a Jack Russell found in a plastic bag on Tommy Boydell Avenue in Barry Hertzog Park.

“The dog was still alive when I arrived on the scene, but due to its poor condition and wounds, it had to be euthanised,” said SPCA Inspector, Elize van Rooyen.
Undigested chips were found in the dog’s mouth, and it was severely dehydrated. Even more horrifying was an elastic band around the dog’s front left paw.
“The elastic had cut into the skin and was basically at the bone. It was infected and the dog was in a bad condition,” Ms van Rooyen said.
Anyone who can shed light on the ownership of the dog is requested to contact the SPCA on 034 318 2346.
