Weekend rain in Ladysmith doesn’t increase water level in Spioenkop Dam

The water level in Spioenkop Dam currently stands at 61.8%

Friday’s heavy downpour in and around Ladysmith did not increase the water level in Spioenkop Dam.

This morning (January 31), the dam level was checked and is standing at 61.8%. It stood at 62% last week.

Speaking to Ladysmith residents, they are all hoping for more rain to help ease the drought conditions we are currently experiencing. “We would like to be able to water our gardens and wash our vehicles without worrying,” said one resident.

Rainfall is predicted over the coming weekend and into next week.

Let’s all keep our fingers crossed that the heavens open, and that plenty of rain fills up our rivers and dams.
