Both my son and daughter started school there and I am pleased to say that I have had a positive experience. I am especially impressed with my son’s progress. He can be very shy and quiet and, initially, I was worried about how he would adjust.
He started pre-school in 2016, which was the year he turned four, and had lived in a rural area with his grandmother since he was born. I was concerned about the language barrier because he had had very little exposure to English up until then. I mentioned this to Engela and she was very positive, assuring me that there would not be a problem.
She was right. He adjusted well and seemed very happy from the outset. I have seen him come out of his shell and become more confident. I am amazed at how quickly he has learned to speak English. He knew no English whatsoever at the beginning of the year but, by the end of 2016, he could easily converse and, even now, uses words like ‘pteradactyl’, lol! However, I think, for that, we can also thank his healthy appetite for cartoons.
I am also impressed by the way the school encourages recycling, which is so important for the environment, in a fun way by using things like old toilet rolls, egg containers and left over covering paper when making artwork with the children. I enjoy receiving all the marvellous creations from school. This has also taught us to be aware of recycling as a family as parents are encouraged to bring re-usable items to school.
Both my children are now at another school but I would like to express my appreciation to Aunty Engela, Lolo, and the team for creating an environment where our children can thrive.
