Women bathing at collection point

THE WATER crisis seems to be introducing the most odd trends as locals do what they can with the little water that is available.
The latest such trend is that of women said to be having ‘showers’ at a water collection point near the Holy Angels Roman Catholic Church in Bhekuzulu.
According to Mr JE Mchunu, a resident who witnessed this scenario and took it up with council, the act is both worrying and unsightly.
“In a time when we are regularly hearing news of women being raped, it is shocking to find that some still have the nerve to stand stark-naked under that water pipe without a care in the world,” said Mr Mchunu.
Mr Mchunu said that the women can often be seen in the nude at night, scrubbing themselves clean, without a care in the world.
He went on to say that in addition to this collection point being used as a ‘shower’, motorists are also often found washing their cars there.
“It might be a good idea to have the facility locked and only used at specific times as this will help us save water that people are now clearly wasting,” said Mr Mchunu.
The matter was brought forward at last week’s council meeting\. It is now up to the councillors to see what can be done about this ‘nude’ situation.
