A waterless week for some residents

In some areas like Bougainvillea Avenue, Hydrangea Street and parts of Rensburgdrift, taps have run completely dry

Although it’s been wet outside, it’s been a dry week for some residents in Forderville and Rensburgdrift.
Since last Wednesday, residents have been plagued with erratic water supply.

In some areas like Bougainvillea Avenue, Hydrangea Street and parts of Rensburgdrift, taps have run completely dry and residents are at the mercy of family and friends or the irregular visits by the water supply truck.

In other areas, water interruptions and low water pressure were being experienced. Residents took to social media platforms not only to vent their frustration but to share information and water.

A common factor is that residents are not given clear information about the exact cause of the water cuts or when they can expect the supply to be restored.

Uthukela District Municipality Communications Manager Jabulani Mkhonza responded on Monday to questions posed by the Estcourt News that related the resident’s concerns.

He said that exact cause of the water interruptions is unknown and engineers are “currently working on the matter”.

“We shall be in a position to know exactly what is wrong with the water pumping system probably by Tuesday. “We will keep you posted. Apologies for any inconvenience caused,” he added.
