King’s Superstars claim regal Victory

Dumbe bowlers Anton Beneke (10-1-45-4) and Juan Freyer (6-0-25-2) returned the best bowling figures for the team. The Dumbe batsmen made easy work of winning the game in the 26th over for the loss of 3 wickets.

Charl Beneke’s 77 and Keegan Meier scoring 43 were the main reason for the easy victory. Triztian Nel (7-0-64-2) and Juan Booyens (6-0-46-1) were the only successful bowlers for Wicket Wasps. Dumbe won by 7 wickets.
The other Saturday match at Cecil Emmett was a Kingsmead Mynahs 30 over fixture between the Afrimat Gladiators and Mr X. Gladiators batted first and scored 163/8 in their allotted overs with Connor High and Kobie Marè top scoring with 37 runs apiece.

Gavin Bosman (6-1-22-2) and Clifford Dougherty (5-0-21-2) were the best bowlers for Mr X. In batting, Duvan Grobbelaar and Miguel Machado cruised Mr X to victory, both not out, scoring 67 and 39 respectively. The only successful bowler was Craig Petersen claiming the only wicket for 39 runs in his 4 overs. Mr X won by 9 wickets.
Sunday’s Kennedy Cup 50 over encounter was played at Cecil Emmett between King Superstars and Bhekuzulu. Bhekuzulu batted first and were all out in the 29th over for 158 runs with Nkosinathi Zwane (57) and Bonginkosi Mkhonza (20) top scoring.

The King Superstar bowlers, Maser Ahmed (6-0-25-2) and Mirza Munawar (6-0-33-2), returned best bowling figures for their team. The King Superstars reached victory in the 26th over losing 4 wickets on the way. Their best batsmen were Mirza Munawar (78 not out) and Adnan Ilyas (23). Bhekuzulu’s best bowlers were spinners, Thando Magubane (10-1-49-3) and Thulani Zondo (4-1-28-1). King Superstars won by 6 wickets.
This weekend’s Kennedy Cup 50 over fixtures are between Afrimat Gladiators and Dumbe in Dumbe. The Cecil Emmett match on Sunday at 10am is between Mr X and Bhekuzulu.
