The eMadlangeni Municipality refuses to back down against provincial government.

UTRECHT – The eMadlangeni Municipality refuses to back down against provincial government.

Last week, the municipality launched a court appeal, to challenge the decision to be placed under administration by the Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA).

At the centre of the controversy is CoGTA MEC, Nomusa Dube-Ncube.

Although the court proceedings are still pending, Deputy Mayor of eMadlangeni Municipality, Ntsikelelo Ndlovu said CoGTA had since committed to withholding its decision until the case was finalised.

This means elected officials have effectively had their power restored.
