Illegal dumping in Alexander Carr Avenue has been mounting. Residents from the area say that garden refuse is being dumping on the sidewalk, making it an eyesore. The alleged culprit, who a resident says is a local businessman, has been approached and requested to refrain from illegally dumping.
This method has not worked, as one resident claimed that the man remained defiant and continued dumping garden refuse. Some residents from this street are so frustrated that they want to publicly name and shame the person responsible for dumping.
The resident’s concerns and a photo have been sent to Inkosi Langalibalele Local Municipality for a possible intervention. The municipality has also been asked to provide information about penalties for illegal dumping as well as the procedure involved when reporting it. Unfortunately no response was received at the time of going to print.
