Tired of dumping and terrible stink in De Gama Road, Ladysmith

A drive-through of the area clearly shows piles of rubbish dumped literally in every empty space

Residents of De Gama Road in Van Riebeeck Park are fed up with the constant illegal dumping and foul smell in the area.

A drive-through of the area clearly shows piles of rubbish dumped literally in every empty space.

Not only is this an unpleasant sight, but has created a terrible stench in the areas affected. All sorts of rubbish is thrown onto open veld, which residents say now looks like a dumpsite.

“We have a lovely home, but what is the point when everything is ruined by the unbearable stink that comes wafting from the dump yard, not to mention all the other illegal dumping that takes place on a regular basis. I am so tired of driving past and seeing this terrible mess,” fumed an upset resident.

Residents say they have phoned the municipality on numerous occasions to address the problem, but nothing has been done.

At the time of going to press, the municipality had not commented on this matter.
