Blocked gutters irk Albert Street business owners

Business owners would like the gutters to be restored, since they believe that removing some of the muck that builds up is not a long-term solution

Albert Street business owners say they have had enough of blocked gutters. Blocked gutters equal rain water having no room to flow into storm water drains.

With recent rains, the gutters became blocked with muck, which according to business owners in the street, is scraped up and heaped on the sidewalk.

Recently rain water, had nowhere to flow and began overflowing onto the main roadside causing immense hardships to locals and commuters.

“The muck leaves a bad smell, which makes it unpleasant for us, as business people, to operate in,” said a businessman who asked to remain anonymous.

Business owners would like the gutters to be restored, since they believe that removing some of the muck that builds up is not a long-term solution.

It’s been said that the water reaches knee height when the gutters have not been cleaned over a long period of time.

“This gives a bad reflection of our town and of the service and products we try to offer to customers,” commented another business owner.
