About two weeks ago the conditions of Lorne Street were publicised and since then, there has been no improvement.

One can say the conditions have worsened. Lorne Street business people and residents feel that service delivery within the street is being ‘overlooked.’
Weeds are escalating to new heights; the sidewalk has not been repaired and this remains a great danger to pedestrians. Due to the blocked gutters and damaged storm water drains, rain water has nowhere to flow creating a foul-smelling puddle of water.
During the past week, a water pipe was being repaired and to access the pipe, the road surface was dug up and not repaired. Business people fear that customer’s cars may be damaged and this could act as a ‘turn-off’ from doing business in the area.
“Service delivery is non-existent in our town and being in Lorne Street most of the time makes that evident,” said a Lorne Street businessman.
No official response was received from the municipality at the time of going to print.
