Evangelist in town to reach out to learners

The message was well received by the students and they sang a variety of praise songs

Over the last week of February, Ladysmith saw our very own evangelist, Matthew Lee, come back to town for a visit and do some ministry related outreaches.

During the week he spent here, he visited some of our local schools, with the assistance of Mr K Bihaspat from Lasec and the Royal Hotel, to minister to the students and encourage them with Christian-based messages. Upon his arrival on Wednesday last week, he visited ML Sultan to speak to the Grade 7s about their purpose.

He encouraged them to dream big about their future, rely on God and not allow anything negative anyone says about them to rob them of reaching that destiny.

On Thursday, he visited Thubelihle Special Opportunity School, where he told the students about the love of God and how much He loves them.

He encouraged them to walk in love and love one another as God loved us.

After he ministered to them, Matthew and Anne Lee, from the Royal Hotel, began assisting the school in establishing their vegetable garden in order for the school to be able to sell the produce to bring in the much-needed funding the school needs in order to obtain better facilities to accommodate their students.

Matthew also took a variety of video footage in order to create an awareness video for the school.

On Friday night and Saturday morning, Matthew worked with the youth from Victory Chapel. On Friday night, he did a ‘Soul Winning Workshop’ with the group, where he trained them to be able to effectively go out and tell people about the love of God.

This was followed by a practical session on Saturday morning, where the group and a team from the church went into town to practice what they had been taught the previous evening, telling those around them about the love of God.

Lastly, before he returned to his home in Gauteng on Monday morning, Matthew visited the students of Inkanyezi Special Needs School, where he also told the students about the love of God, how much He loves them, and he encouraged them to walk in love and love one another as God loved us.

The message was well received by the students, and they sang a variety of songs of praise to God.

After the message, the children were given a bowl of delicious soup and some bread, which was provided by the Royal Hotel.

Evangelist Matthew will be returning to Ladysmith in March to do a variety of evangelism-based workshops with some of the local churches, and to participate in the community ‘Thanksgiving for the Rain’ prayer event, which will be held on Thursday, March 16, at 5pm on the Platrand Hilltop.
