WATER UPDATE FOR NEWCASTLE: Dam level remains in high 90s
The dam level remains stable at about 96 per cent of its capacity.
Despite little rainfall this week, the Chelmsford/Ntshingwayo Dam is almost full.
The most recent figures from the Department of Water and Sanitation stated the dam was 96.51 per cent full, with an average inflow of 14.71 cubic metres per second.
This was at the latest measure on Tuesday morning.
Spioenkop Dam, located near Bergville, was at 100.84 per cent at the last measure, while the Wagendrift Dam near Estcourt is 102.45 per cent full.
Craigieburn Dam near Greytown is at 81.56 per cent of its capacity.
Dams in the Vryheid area also filled up with recent rainfall, with the Klipfontein Dam increasing from 37.8 to 54.2 per cent of its capacity as of this week.
Conversely, dams in Zululand remain have seen bitter little relief.
Residents are urged to continue using water sparingly, until the go-ahead is given from officials to the effect the crisis is truly over.
