Mr X wins Kennedy Cup

A KINGSMEAD Mynahs league match was played last Saturday afternoon at Cecil Emmett between Wicket Wasps and King Superstars.
Wicket Wasps batted first and scored a hefty 272/2 in their allotted 30 overs with Juan Booyens and Andrew Brooks showing off their skills with the bat scoring 100 and 83 not out respectively.
Sohail Khan was the only wicket taker for King Superstars ending with figures of 4-0-30-1.
The King Superstar batsmen were no match for the Wicket Wasp bowlers, being all dismissed within 16 overs with the score on 102.
Afzal Mohamed (31) and Afzal Bloch (11) were their top run scorers while Juan Booyens (4-0-21-4) and young Duan Davel (2-0-19-3) being the leading wicket takers for the Wicket Wasps.
Wicket Wasps won the game by 170 runs. The much anticipated Kennedy Cup 50 over final between deserved finalists Dumbe and Mr X lived up to all expectations with a thrilling match played on the Kallie van Rooyen Oval in Dumbe.

The Mr X batsmen batted well, and after their 50 overs were up, posted a decent 267/7 with Duvan Grobelaar scoring a fantastic run a ball 128, Clifford Dougherty second top scored with 52 runs. Successful Dumbe bowlers were Juan Freyer (9-0-42-2) and Henk Nel (9-0-60-2).
Dumbe started off well with the bat, but lost crucial wickets at critical stages of the match and ended just 9 runs short of the target at the end of their 50 overs.
Notable batting from Dumbe were Carlo Hambrock (82) and Marcel Hinze (40).
The best Mr X bowlers were Clifford Dougherty (10-0-73-4) and Mathew Stride (10-1-31-2) .
Mr X won the match and the Kennedy Cup league, well done lads!! Two Kingsmead Mynahs 30 over matches will be played at Cecil Emmett this weekend.
On Saturday Mr X play King Superstars and Wicket wasps will host the Afrimat Gladiators on Sunday.
