Shooter in critical condition after suicide attempt
Club Malonjeni management said the shooting incident was 'nothing to do with Club staff, management or patrons but was a lover's quarrel that turned violent'
The paramedic, who shot his girlfriend several times before following to Dundee Hospital and shooting and injuring another woman, is in a critical condition after shooting himself.
The man, who apparently used his own firearm, argued with his girlfriend in the parking lot of what was formerly known as the police canteen, off Argyle Road, at around 10pm last night.
Those in charge of Club Malojeni as it is now called, told the Courier that the incident ‘is an isolated one and was nothing to do with Club staff or patrons’. Seven spent cartridges and two bullet heads were found on the scene.
The woman was rushed to Hospital and the paramedic, whose name is known to the Courier, followed in his private car, a NDE registered Audi vehicle. At the hospital, he fired two shots, critically injuring another woman. He then drove towards Nquthu with police in pursuit.
He drove to the Nquthu police station where he stopped and ran towards a soccer field. He fired two shots at the police. He then shot himself and taken to hospital where his condition was described as critical. Police are in possession of firearm. Two live rounds and two spent cartridges were found.
