‘I want them to know they are not far from my heart’ – Mayor Mtshali

Storm victims welcome mayor with tears of joy.

THE recent storm that ripped through parts of AbaQulusi wreaked havoc on homes in the area.

Community members who were affected by the disaster, were paid a visit by AbaQulusi Mayor, Martin Mtshali, along with his Disaster Management team, who rushed to their aid on the morning after the storm with blankets and made a list of addresses hardest hit by the brutal act of nature that left a trail of devastation in its wake.

Last Wednesday, Mayor Mtshali revisited these homes, accompanied by Acting Director of Community Services, Veronica Sokhela, and the Disaster Management team as a gesture of kindness to remind those whose homes were damaged and destroyed that they were not far from his heart as he and his team returned with food parcels for these families.

“I’m so shocked,” said one resident through tears of joy. “I never expected this from the municipality.”
