While homes that have had water meters stolen, will have plugs installed until the meters can be replaced, AbaQulusi municipality has replaced stolen meters at all the businesses in the CBD.
“Business brings in the biggest revenue, so we are installing the meters that were in stock at business premises for now. Once we have finished the process of restoring the water supply, we will start from one side and replace on the meters that have been stolen in the residential areas,” said Roland Marx of AbaQulusi municipality’s Water and Sanitation Department.
Mr Marx asked that residents be aware that there are still four or five water meters being reported stolen every day.
DA councillor, Alta de Kock, who came up with the plan to fast track the water supply, said she was happy with the progress being made.
