The Local Task Team (LTT) hosted an activity on April 20 in Ward 12 at the Abambo Community Hall and on April 26 in Ward 18 at the Esigodlweni Hall.

The aim was to conduct an awareness campaign on chronic diseases and give advice people about treatment. Chronic illnesses include diabetes, high blood pressure, etc. and different departments were there to render their services and also explain their services to the elderly people.

The LTT Chairperson Mr VT Nkabinde explained to the community the purpose of the Operation Sukuma Sakhe (OSS) task team, which is to fight crime, illness and poverty.

He also explained that OSS brings government departments to the community to deal with problems or concerns. Various government departments including Agriculture, Home Affairs as Social Development as well as non-governmental organisations were present to support the awareness initiative.

The Al-Imdaad Foundation gave 30 walking sticks to the senior citizens of ward 12 and in ward 18, 30 more people received walking sticks as well as sanitary pads. The councillors of the wards thank the foundation for the support.
