Licensing Department fixes ‘hitch’ in system

A resident complained that she has not been able to receive assistance from the department since her purse (containing her drivers license) was stolen the previous week.

RESIDENTS have had a hard time getting their documents finalised at the local licensing department and faulty internet connections seem to be to blame.

According to a senior local, who wished not to be named, she has not been able to receive assistance from the department since her purse (containing her drivers license) was stolen the previous week.

“I went there to apply for a new license and was told that their systems were offline and that I would have to return the following week,” said this local.

Although she had been promised that things would be sorted out by the following week, when this resident arrived at the department again, she was told that systems were still offline and that she would have to go to Paulpietersburg to get her license.

Staff members at the licensing department informed the Vryheid Herald that their cables were struck by lightning when there was a storm four weeks ago.

The department said that they were expecting someone from their IT department to attend to the matter and to install a new switch last Tuesday.
