Water leak seeping into home
Besides the damage the water leak is causing to the home, the resident expresses dismay at the amount of water that is going to waste
In 14th Street, Forderville, two homes are being affected by a water leak. A stream of water is trailing into a family’s front yard, boundary wall as well as seeping into the foundation.
The resident says that the water leak started last Monday and Uthukela District Municipality was immediately notified.
“On Monday they gave me a reference number and then on Tuesday a van with Uthukela staff came by, they looked from the road and left. They haven’t come back to repair the leak,” said one of the residents who has been affected by the leak.
The resident persisted and called back on Wednesday; she was given another reference number and by Friday, she was still waiting for the leak to be repaired.
The homeowner, whose yard the water has invaded, says that Uthukela staff said they would have to ascertain whether the leak is emanating from inside the yard, in which case it would be the homeowner’s responsibility to repair.
She said that previously Uthukela District Municipality staff had repaired a water leak and the evidence of the dug up driveway remains.
Besides the damage the water leak is causing to the home, the resident expresses dismay at the amount of water that is going to waste.
