Update: 1 dead as truck bursts into flames
Upon closer inspection, paramedics discovered the body of a man lying inside the smouldering wreckage
A man was killed and another injured on Saturday (May 13) when two trucks collided head-on at Van Reenen’s Pass.
Paramedics, along with other emergency services, arrived on scene to find two trucks at the side of the road. One of the trucks had burst into flames.
Fire services extinguished the blaze in a few short minutes.
Upon closer inspection, paramedics discovered the body of a man lying inside the smouldering wreckage. Unfortunately, nothing could be done for the man and he was declared dead.
The driver of the second truck was assessed and found to be in a critical condition.
Paramedics immediately treated the man and carried out advanced life support interventions. The man was thereafter transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
