Vacant property becomes a haven for dumping

The resident hopes the municipality can erect 'no dumping' signs, have the area cleaned up

Some Bougainvillea Avenue residents seem to ignore ‘no dumping’ laws.

A vacant piece of land has become the go-to place to get rid of domestic, building and garden waste. The issue of illegal dumping is coupled with a water leak, said to be left neglected for weeks.

“We are all respectable neighbours and I am not sure why waste cannot be disposed in the correct way.  I have addressed this issue with my neighbours previously but clearly it has not helped,” said a Bougainvillea Avenue resident.

The resident hopes the municipality can erect ‘no dumping’ signs, have the area cleaned up and monitor it before the dumping mounts to an uncontrolled stage.

The uninviting sight of used nappies, garden waste, broken bricks as well as water flowing through the dumped rubble makes for an unhealthy environment to live in, which does concern some of the homeowners.
