Battlefields Festival sees gun-run participants breaking a sweat in Ladysmith’s main street

Bystanders were seen screaming and shouting as they cheered on the brave and fit participants

Today (June 3), one lane in Murchison Street was closed due to the Alfred Duma Local Municipality’s Battlefields Festival kicking off with the Community Gun-Run.

The festival is held in partnership with the Department of Arts & Culture and Department of Economic Development, Tourism & Environmental Affairs.

The event saw participants breaking a sweat as they pulled a heavy gun along the main street.

Bystanders were seen screaming and shouting as they cheered on the brave and fit participants.

The race began at the Town Hall, with Deputy Mayor Thuli Hadebe addressing the crowd.

Many teams from all over Ladysmith participated and were seen having an extremely tough but fun time.
