No load-shedding expected this winter

Eskom hasn’t implemented load-shedding since 2015

Ladysmith residents, and South Africans in general, can expect to keep their lights and heaters on this winter, as Eskom does not anticipate the need for load-shedding to take place.

Eskom hasn’t implemented load-shedding since 2015, when there were frequent bouts of load-shedding throughout the year.

In recent months, the power utility has stepped up its maintenance and added additional megawatts to the power grid to ensure that there is surplus supply for South Africans.

During the colder months of the year, consumers tend to use more electricity by switching on heaters and geysers for longer periods of time. However, Eskom’s Chose Choeu says they don’t expect any problems this winter.
