Lieutenant Colonel Sibusiso Jeffrey Ngcobo has recently been appointed the Station Commander of Ntabamhlophe Police Station. He was born in Winterton and his decision to join the South African Police Service (SAPS) was based on his father.

“As I grew up, I saw my father as a mentor. “He was a policeman, a servant of the community and led by example,” explained Lt Col Ngcobo.

The Lt Colonel has been in the police service for over 28 years and his most memorable achievement is when he was appointed as the Station Commander of Amangwe SAPS.

During his time there, the station was ranked as one of the top five achieving stations in the Uthukela Cluster and ranked number one in the crime prevention component in the Uthukela cluster, the KwaZulu-Natal province and the Republic of South Africa. He also saw to the reduction of stock theft cases being committed in the Amangwe area.

His role model is Mr Nelson Mandela, because he was jailed for a long period of time, yet he when he was released he forgave his oppressors.

Lt Col Ngcobo lives his life according to two mottos: “Perseverance is the mother of success” and “Procrastination is the thief of time because lost time is never found.”

He enjoys watching soccer and the television show Isibaya.

If he could change one thing about the world, it would be poverty, because it mostly leads to corruption and crime. One word of advice he would share with others is: “Always stay true to who you are”.
