Insightful tourism workshop held in Estcourt

Topics such as consumer service, service excellence, professional image and others were discussed

The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs together with the national Department of Tourism, Tourism KZN and the Tourism Grading Council of South Africa held a Service Excellence and Quality Assurance Workshop last Wednesday.

Representatives from each department delivered insightful presentations to attendees. Topics such as consumer service, service excellence, professional image and others were discussed.

Local crafters, artists, lodges and resorts were invited to attend the workshop. Different types of awards that can be entered and entry requirements were also discussed, as well as tips on how to impress the judges.

Loskop’s Thandanani Crafters had their beautiful bright handmade crafts on display for sale at the workshop.

The speaker, from the Tourism Grading Council of South Africa, Di Borphy encouraged those present to utilise the new website to track online consumer remarks all over the world to help give better service and products to customers.

Elliot Mohlatji gave a brief background on Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE) sector codes and highlighted the new elements.

Helpful information booklets were issued to those present to assist with the addressed topics.
