Alert neighbours prevent possible ‘farm attack’

Residents say the three attackers are still in the area

Swift action from neighbours prevented a possible farm attack on a property adjacent to Tom Worthington Dam, Hattingspruit, this morning.
Residents told the Courier, a man, who was previously employed by the owners of a property, had arrived at the house of his former employers on the pretext of fetching some of his clothing from the elderly couple. The man of the house is said to be an invalid.
However, while the young man was attempting to call out the woman of the house, two accomplices cut the security wire at the back of the property and crawled through.
Alert neighbours and people working at nearby horse stables spotted them and immediately gave chase. The three men managed to flee over the dam wall but Ben Lloyd whose property adjoins the property said it appears as if the men are still ‘lurking about in the area.
Residents expressed their disappointment that although the local police were called to the scene immediately they only arrived at around 12.15pm.
