Giving the deaf folk a chance to fully engage in society
They also aim to educate deaf people about their rights and responsibilities, to do research and develop communication skills within the families and the community at large (sign language) and minimise the interaction gap

Imagine living your life not being able to hear a single thing.
Sadly that’s the reality many deaf people face in South Africa. Unable to fully engage in events or with the people around them, they don’t always receive the support or understanding that they need.
However, a Pietermaritzburg based NPO is hoping to change that. My Friends Are Deaf (MFAD) is an NPO that visits schools and communities to make friends with the deaf especially in rural villages of South Africa and Africa as whole.
They seek out sponsorships and donations in order to assist the deaf according to their relevant needs and help them remain actively engaged in the community. They also aim to educate deaf people about their rights and responsibilities, to do research and develop communication skills within the families and the community at large (sign language) and minimise the interaction gap.
MFAD will be coming to Dundee soon, hoping to make a difference in the lives of the deaf people around the area.
