MTN Joyous Celebration choir inspires and sings through Newcastle

The choir launched their album in 2016, after travelling to Dallas, Texas in U.S.A, to have it produced there.

MTN Joyous Celebration is an exeptionally talented choir, which was formed in 1994, with the purpose was of spiritually healing and uplifting the South Africa nation.

It was created by industry leaders and musical friends Lindelani Mkhize, Jabu Hlongwane and Mthunzi Namba, who dreamed of creating an inspirational choir which would stir people’s hearts towards healing.

This year, MTN Joyous Celebration turned 21 years old and celebrated its formation by touring South Africa, to help change lives and create wonderful memories.

Interrupting its tour schedule, the choir stopped in Newcastle on Monday, July 17, en route to Johannesburg, as its choir members, Phumzile Luthuli, Nhlanhla Zofo, Gospel Silinda, Eric Moyo, Ndu Shezi and Puleng March wanted to promote their latest album, Heal Our Land in town.

The choir launched their album in 2016, after travelling to Dallas, Texas in U.S.A, to have it produced there.

“It was the first time for many of us to go overseas, as well as the first time for MTN Joyous Celebration to be taken abroad to produce an album,” said Zofo.

While in Dallas, the choir had performed with an American Choir of the Potter’s House Church.

“It was an awesome experience for us, being two countries merging for the love of music.

“We are proud to have been part of a project like this.”

Since returning to South Africa and beginning their tour, the choir had actively been spreading its inspirational brand of gospel music and interacting with various communities.

“It has been amazing to see different people of diverse cultures, while uplifting them through music,” said Silinda.

As the choir members came from different parts of South Africa, Zofo said that had been a fascinating experience.

“Being able to see one of our own, in their home town, being welcomed with open arms is inspiring.”

After leaving Newcastle, the group headed to Johannesburg, before travelling to Bloemfontein, Rustenberg and eventually Limpopo, which would be their last stop.
