Over 530 rhinos have been poached so far this year in South Africa, according to official statistics released by the Department of Environmental Affairs.
Disturbingly, over 6 100 of these magnificent animals have been slaughtered since 2008 by those seeking to sell the horns to users in the Far East.
Established in 2010 as a response to the escalating rhino crisis in South Africa, StopRhinoPoaching.com is actively involved in the fight against rhino poaching and has a national footprint for strategic funding of security initiatives and ranger support on the front lines.
The project has the backing of the Dundee Rotary Club, which, at their golf day on Saturday, formally launched their T-shirt, project to help support the effort.
The attractive, high-quality T-shirts are sold for R199 and funds raised will go towards helping protect our rhinos – 74% of the African rhino population lives in South Africa.
